Friends, Family and Neighbors,
With Holidays in Old North less two weeks away, an exciting year for Old North St. Louis is coming to an end. From the opening of a neighborhood bakery to breaking ground on the City’s first shipping container home, our neighbors continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in our Old North community.
In tandem, the Old North St. Louis Restoration Group is ecstatic to announce our many successes from 2019:
The Old North Restoration Group became debt free, paying off more than $100,000 owed to creditors. We are now able to raise funds for sustaining future projects!
We completed the sale of all three new, energy efficient town homes on the 1300 block of Monroe - one of which helped a local family move from renting to homeownership for the first time.
The House Tour broke attendance records, brining in friends and neighbors from all around the region
Ms. Zeno the Mojo Queen traveled from Memphis to perform at the Third Annual North By Old North Music Festival. La Mancha catered the amazing food and drink, while the local neighborhood band, Mental Health, opened for Ms. Zeno.
The historic Mullanphy Building is under contract to be sold to a local developer who understands the importance of equitable community growth and our historic housing expectations. We are excited to see this historic site come back to life!
The Real Estate team is working with architects and contractors to start additional new housing projects with funding from a 2016 CDA housing grant (and hopefully one from 2018 - fingers crossed).
Most importantly, numerous potlucks were enjoyed, community meetings were held, and relationships were built, strengthening this already incredible community.
There is still much work to be done as we continue to revitalize the physical and social dimensions of the community in a manner that respects our historic, urban, and cultural character. We look forward to these challenges in 2019, working with our neighbors to build innovative solutions and a bright future for Old North. For those interested in making a tax-deductible donation before the end of the tax year, and in turn investing in our future, we encourage you to visit our website at onsl.org and click “Donate” on the top, right corner. Checks can also be sent to our office at 2700 N. 14th Street, St. Louis, MO 63106 and addressed to: “Old North St. Louis Restoration Group.”
We are very grateful for all our donors and especially our volunteers who give their time and talents. None of this is possible without your generosity.
Sincerely, The Old North St. Louis Restoration Group Board of Directors
