New Gallery Exhibit: “Feedom From, Freedom To” Opens Tonight

The Old North Gallery at 2700 N. 14th Street will be the site of an opening reception tonight for a new exhibit this evening (Friday, Feb. 11) at 6 p.m.  The art show, titled “Freedom From, Freedom To,” is brought to us by the St. Louis Rescue & Restore Coalition and seeks to raise awareness of the unfortunate reality that slavery still exists today.  The exhibit features the work of several local artists who responded to a challenge to create a piece of art that responds to the question, “What does freedom mean to you?”

Among the pieces on display will be one from Kelley Brown, titled “Butterflies” (see below).  More of her work can be seen on her blog.

Another piece, “Awaiting Freedom’s Flight,” was produced by Elliot Glass, a local high school student.

To view the art and to show your support for the St. Louis Rescue & Restore Coalition, join us this evening from 6-9 p.m.  Although not required, you can RSVP to the St. Louis Rescue & Restore Coalition by emailing rescueandrestore@gmail.com or by calling 314-773-9090, ext 143.
