Scenes from National Night Out in Old North
We got swamped with some other business lately and forgot to post these pictures from almost two weeks ago. On the evening of August 4th, Old North residents fromMonroe up to Branch took to the streets to celebrate community and thank the officers and firefighters who keep the neighborhood safe. The following photos are from the National Night Out party at N. 14th Street and North Market.

It wouldn't be a National Night Out Celebration without Leon Ochoa at the grill (almost unrecognizable this year without his Cubs shirt)

Dan Rechtien and other staff from the Circuit Attorney's office were on hand to discuss their office's support for the neighborhood

5th District Capt. Mary Edwards-Fears engaged in friendly conversation with Monroe Street residents Stewart Griffin and Lori & Joe Sweet, while Ben Schartman enjoys his snow cone.
Meanwhile, the party on 19th Street was a little harder to capture since the ONSLRG office camera had trouble with the focus as the sun went down… but take our word for it that the group there enjoyed good company and kept the celebration going well after dark.

The partiers on N. 19th celebrated the many new residents and recent rehabs in the northern portion of Old North.

Shaun, Lindsey, and Henry were back out for Henry's second National Night Out. He was a new baby when we photographed the family at last year's National Night Out Party, as shown on our blog in August of 2008.
