Matt Hathaway’s column in today’s Post-Dispatch makes a good case for preserving the Mullanphy Emigrant Home, especially since many of today’s St. Louisans with Irish ancestry can trace their presence in St. Louis to the hospitality dispensed at Mullanphy. The column includes a challenge to the Ancient Order of Hibernians who run the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Dogtown to match the generosity of the committee that runs the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Downtown St. Louis. The Downtown parade committee contributed $3,000 to the cause last year. Click

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
